My husband received the 3rd season of Deadwood from my brother as a Christmas present and last night we finished the last episode. I was sorely disappointed. It’s not that it was a bad episode, or even a bad way to end a season. It was, however, a bad way to end the series. Apparently while living in Germany we missed that the series ended in 2006. We always waited until the season came out on DVD and watched them all in like 3 days. Well, having done that for the first two seasons, we were a bit busy when we came back to the States and forgot about the 3rd season. And throughout the entirety of this season the tension was built for a big blow-out. And then the last episode comes and nadda. I’m pissed at the HBO franchise and anyone who had anything to do with the ousting of Deadwood (not to mention Rome). Somehow in the production meetings the viewer never makes an appearance. And it is for that reason that I am boycotting HBO from now on. And it’s made a lot easier since we don’t have cable.
